Tips for Housetraining the Adult Dog
You've just added a wonderful pet to your family whether you got your adult Pug dog from a rescue, shelter or breeder.
Bringing an adult Pug dog into your home atmosphere requires as much effort and consistency from you and the family with some rigorous house training as does a puppy. Just because the Pug is full-grown and may have been potty trained in one home, it's a mistake to think that that he'll just immediately adjust to your home's schedule.
The dog might need some time to adjust to the new environment of your home. It is big mistake to assume that because he's an adult Pug that he'll just know what to do. It is better to start as if he were a puppy and gradually teach him the routine of your home's pet potty schedule. Most adult Pugs are choosy about where to use the bathroom. Many of them do not want to go where they sleep, eat or play.
A person can just set morning and evening feeding times. The dog may not have had such an organized life schedule, so this could really take time for adjustment. The dog may have also come from an abusive household. Some minute things like yelling or smacking the Pug with a newspaper could have caused your pet a lot of fear. Build the Pug's confidence so that he understands your intentions and can make adjustments without being afraid you need to be patient always to tackle such situation.
